NOTICES

Another Summer has come and gone, and despite the weather,  everyone in F & D branch have been busy with rallies, camps, competitions, fun days etc etc – a spot of rain won’t stop us hardy Pony Clubbers!

Flint & Denbigh pony club teams and individuals have had many success stories over the summer in all disciplines, full reports and photographs can be seen on the website.

Very briefly, here are some of the successes;

• Mounted Games – 1 senior team ( Eleri Jones, Mari Edwards, Sam Ecroyd (Sam Major at Zone), Anna Hickey-Roberts and Wil Jones (Suzi Williams at Zone) and 1 junior team (Alys Williams, Alex Major,  Rebecca Sedcote and Wil Jones) qualified from Area to Zone, with the senior team qualifying from there to the Championships at Draycott Manor. What a fantastic year for the Mounted Games teams.
• Showjumping -   1 Open Team (George Sturla, Katy Kent, Sophie Toogood and Lois Roberts) qualified from Area to the Championships at Draycott Manor. The team jumped very well.  Sophie Toogood also qualified as an individual and finished a very creditable 4th overall – well done Sophie.
• National Novice Championships - Congratulations to Sam Ecroyd for winning the National Novice Horse Trials at Kelsall Hill. He was also a member of the Flint & Denbigh  showjumping team (other members -  Oliver Powell Jones, Stephanie Hughes and Ellie Williams) who qualified from Area. The team jumped very well. Nan Jones competed as an individual and had 2 good jumping rounds.
  Grace Pritchard and Lucy Grindal qualified for the National Novice Dressage Championships and did very well.
• Eleri has had the call! - At the Mounted Games Welsh team trials back in March, Eleri Jones was chosen as second reserve for the Welsh Mounted Games Team.  She has recently been asked to join the Welsh Team for their competition in Ireland in October – good luck Eleri.

Fantastic Schoolmaster for Sale: 14 hds. 14yrs New Forest Pony.Ted is well known in the Flint and Denbigh PC and has represented it at Horse Trials, Show Jumping and Dressage. He is the perfect all rounder giving confidence and fun to who ever is riding him. Lily is, very sadly, getting too big for him now so he is ready to teach, and look after, his next young rider taking them up to Area level. Lily and Ted together represented Wales this year for the Byrds C Squad. Then he took her safely round her first BE event at Llanyrmynch.There is no end to his talents! C+ Training At Howells Equestrian Centre

5th, 12th, 19th and 26th October.
1 hour stable management, 1 hour riding (starting with riding at 6pm except 26th October which is 3pm – 5pm). Members must hold the C test to do this training. There may be C+ test at end of October half term, depending on interest. If interested, phone Katy Powell Jones, (07977062265) to secure a place and send cheque for the number of sessions you require @ £10 per session – payable to “Flint & Denbigh Pony Club”

Winter League Showjumping

The show jumping winter league season runs from September to March and, in this area is a competition between all the branches of Area 5.  You can enter as few or as many of the competitions as you like and, so long as you meet the criteria and follow the rules, any member can participate.  there are normally 4 classes as follows

• class 1 is 2' 3" first round and open to members of 10 and under (age as at 01.09.09)
• class 2 is 2' 6" first round and open to members of 13 and under (")
• class 3 is 2' 9" and open to any age
• class 4 is 3' 3" and any age
  

To enter the competition, you send your cheque (with rider’s name, age and pony name on reverse) to me with the class number you wish to enter. I will choose the teams and may move you to a different class to make the teams competitive if need be. A couple of days before the competition I will email all competitors with approx times for their class and any other information I think you may need. Each rider/pony combination may only compete once at each competition but they can compete up to 3 different ponies on the day.

I would appreciate it if you could send me your cheques as soon as I send out the schedule for each competition.

Would everyone interested in competing in the sj winter league please get themselves a rule book and read it. It will explain all you need to know concerning eligibility and permitted tack.

“Fright Night” Halloween Ball

On 31st October,  Flint & Denbigh Pony Club are holding a Fancy Dress Halloween Ball at Howells School, Denbigh.  This will be for children of secondary school age.  More details and tickets will be available nearer the time.
